Proper Footwear Must Be Worn at KTS/YRRS Recycling Sites
At KTS Recycling, safety is our top priority. To help keep visitors protected, proper footwear must be worn when visiting our recycling sites.
Open-toed shoes, including (but not limited to) thongs, sandals, or slides are not appropriate. If you arrive wearing inappropriate footwear, unfortunately you will be asked to leave and will be welcome to return wearing appropriate footwear.
Why Is Proper Footwear Required?
Whilst we take every measure to maintain a clean and well-organised environment, the nature of waste and recycling operations means that hidden hazards can still exist. Sharp objects such as glass, nails, and metal fragments can be present, and heavy items are frequently handled on-site.
Without the right footwear, you risk serious injury from:
- Sharp debris – Small but dangerous items like broken glass or nails could puncture thin-soled or open shoes.
- Falling objects – Heavy materials can shift or fall unexpectedly, and unprotected feet are vulnerable to impact.
- Uneven surfaces – Our sites can have rough or unpredictable terrain, making enclosed, supportive shoes essential for stability.
By ensuring all visitors wear proper footwear, we can significantly reduce the risk of injury and create a safer space for everyone.
To ensure your safety, all visitors must wear closed-toe shoes when entering our sites. If you arrive in inappropriate footwear, our staff will not be able to allow you entry.
What Footwear Is Acceptable?
To comply with our safety policies, all visitors must wear:
✔ Enclosed, sturdy shoes – Sneakers, boots, or work shoes that cover the entire foot.
✔ Thick, durable soles – Footwear that provides proper grip and protection from sharp objects.
Avoid wearing:
❌ Thongs, sandals, or slides – Open-toed footwear does not provide any protection.
❌ Ballet flats or thin-soled shoes – These do not offer adequate cushioning or impact resistance.
