Embracing Aboriginal Cultural Competency: KTS Recycling’s Commitment to Inclusivity
At KTS Recycling, we believe that fostering an environment of mutual respect and understanding is essential for a thriving workplace. In line with this commitment, our general manager, Dragi, recently participated in an Aboriginal Cultural Competency workshop. The training event was organised by Goal Indigenous Services and was held at the Koorie Heritage Trust, located in Melbourne’s Federation Square.
The Koorie Heritage Trust offers programs designed to enhance cultural competency, aiming to bridge cultural gaps and promote meaningful interactions between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal communities. Their workshops are tailored for individuals and organizations seeking to deepen their understanding of Aboriginal culture and history.
Reflecting on his experience, Dragi shared: “I got a better understanding about Aboriginal culture at the course. I didn’t learn much at school about Aboriginal history because they did not teach us and I would recommend that a few others sit the course when it is available.”
Participating in this training is a testament to KTS Recycling’s dedication to continuous learning and cultural sensitivity. We recognize that such endeavors enrich our workplace and strengthen our community relationships.
We encourage other organisations to engage in similar cultural competency workshops and training. By doing so, we collectively move towards a more inclusive and understanding society.
